Beyond this World

From my recent deeper engagement with A Course in Miracles, I'm receiving imaginative sparks that appear as images as I "do" the lessons. Not always. But, when I do, I make art.

This work gives me a way to manifest the inner messages that I receive in my mind's eye and, in doing so, have a clearer understanding of the lesson that now "lives in my bones," as Brene Brown likes to say.

I’m most excited about this image called “Beyond this World.” It took weeks for the key elements to fall into place like pieces of a puzzle I would discover were readily available.

After reading ACIM lesson 124 - Beyond this world is a world I want, I took the lesson into meditation. A vision of a woman with eagle wings and broken chains on her wrist came to my mind. I sketched it on a notepad.

Later I would realize the woman and eagle with its wings spread were both in the collage I created six months ago for ACIM Lesson 31 - I am not a victim of the world I see.

Meanwhile, my life became one colossal distraction after another, not conducive to artmaking. But, during that time, the acrylic-pour painting that my late sister, Denise, made caught my attention. I took it down from the memorial ledge I created for it in my art studio and placed it near my computer desk, so I could gaze at it while on the phone.

Then one morning, I realized the winged woman with broken chains belonged inside my sister’s painting!

It didn’t take long to combine the puzzle pieces as layers in Photoshop, for the ease of flow was coming from Spirit.

I know deep in my heart that Denise approves and is thrilled to be a part of this creation! Thank you, Denise, for your presence in this work cements my belief you are in that beautiful realm of existence and at peace now.
