Beyond What These Eyes Can See

Beyond What These Eyes Can See by Diana Teeters

My eyes were closed when I first saw this vision. Something vast, seemingly unsurmountable, was blocking the light. Reminded me of A Course in Miracles Lesson #129,

Beyond this world, there is a world I want.

This world I see now is full of confusion and fear. Where are the love and forgiveness? I can choose to see it differently.

Today the lights of Heaven bend to you, to shine upon your eyelids as you rest beyond the world of darkness. Here is the light your eyes can not behold. And yet your mind can see it plainly, and can understand.” - from A Course in Miracles

In the making of this work, I found a rock formation in my studio that I had brought back from Lake Nolan in Kentucky at my Aunt Mary’s lake house four years ago. At that time, I collected objects found in nature. This rock was perfect. Now, what do I use for a bright light? I remembered the most brilliant light I own, the healing lamp that was a Christmas gift from my good friend Lisa. I photographed this setup, and today I finished the composition.
