A Spirit Freed

Darkness came to wield its toll

Its goal, it seemed, her very soul

Talons clenched to hold her tight

Exhales of fire to blind her sight

Tried its might to break her will

Through the fear, her heart was still

Darkness seldom met her kind

To break free, the light she’d find

Trust in God be all she need

No threat of dark, a spirit freed

These words were inspired by the strength of my sister, Diana. Faced with a cruel disease that threatened not only her body, but her faith in God, she emerged victorious and stronger than ever.
