ACIM Lesson 161

Give me your blessing, holy Son of God.

Lesson 161 — Give Me Your Blessing, Holy Son of God

What stood out to me in today's lesson was the distinction between specifics and abstraction.

The Course says abstraction is the natural condition of the mind. Yet we've taught ourselves to see fragments instead of wholeness. So today it asks us to begin with one person.

For me, that person was someone I once loved dearly as a friend. Our relationship ended painfully, and for a long time the hurt seemed larger than anything else. Today I was able, if only for a moment, to look beyond the story and ask for his blessing.

As a photographer, I sometimes see this lesson reflected in a flower. When I move in close enough, the flower almost disappears. What remains is color, light, texture, and mystery.

Perhaps that is what today's lesson is inviting us toward: not the denial of the person, but the recognition that every person points beyond themselves.

One brother is all brothers.

And every blessing we offer returns to us.

A Listening Practice

If it feels natural, you might let this idea continue beyond the words.

Two musical reflections accompany this lesson—
each offering a different way of entering the same truth.

A grounded chant, steady and spacious,
like a quiet return within.

A devotional song,
carrying the feeling of being held in what has never changed.

You might listen to one… or both…
not to understand,
but to let the truth be felt.

There is nothing to achieve here.
Only a willingness to rest…
and allow the remembrance to deepen.
