ACIM Lesson 164

Now are we one with Him Who is our Source.

What stood out to me in today's lesson was the repeated emphasis on now.

The Course isn't talking about a future awakening or some distant spiritual achievement. It points to this moment. Now are we one with God. Not later. Not when we've healed completely. Not when we've figured everything out.

Just now.

One passage especially caught my attention:

"A melody from far beyond the world increasingly is more and more distinct. An ancient call to which He gives an ancient answer."

I love that image.

For many years I approached silence as something I should do. A spiritual discipline. A practice. But over time something changed. Silence became less of an obligation and more of a refuge.

These days, when I sit quietly, I sometimes have the feeling that the noise of the world is receding into the background. Not disappearing, but becoming less important. Beneath it is something steady and familiar. Something ancient.

Perhaps that is the call the lesson speaks of.

Not a voice demanding attention.

Not a dramatic revelation.

Just a gentle remembering that beneath all the activity of life, we remain connected to our Source.

The lesson reminds me that awakening is not about becoming something new.

It is about becoming still long enough to hear what has been calling us all along.

A Listening Practice

If it feels natural, you might let this idea continue beyond the words.

One musical reflection accompany this lesson.

A grounded chant, steady and spacious,
like a quiet return within.

There is nothing to achieve here.
Only a willingness to rest…
and allow the remembrance to deepen.
