ACIM Lesson 166
I am entrusted with the gifts of God.
What touches me most about this lesson is not the idea of God's gifts. It is the image of Christ walking beside us.
The Course describes a weary traveler wandering far from home, convinced he is alone and poor. I think most of us know that traveler. We have all had seasons where the road felt long and our strength felt small.
Then comes one of the most tender moments in the Workbook.
"Christ's hand has touched your shoulder."
Not someday. Not after we become enlightened. Now.
And what does he say when we feel lonely, afraid, abandoned, or lacking?
"It is not so."
I love those words.
They are not an argument. They are not a correction. They are a gentle reminder that what fear tells us is not the truth.
The lesson goes even further. Christ's touch does not merely comfort us. It reminds us who we are.
"For his touch on you has made you like himself."
The gifts of God are not something we must earn. They have already been entrusted to us. Love, forgiveness, kindness, tenderness, compassion, joy—they remain within us even when we forget they are there.
Today I am reminded that I do not walk alone. Christ walks beside me, placing a hand on my shoulder whenever I forget.
And when fear tells its familiar stories, I can hear the same quiet answer:
"It is not so."
A Listening Practice
If it feels natural, you might let this idea continue beyond the words.
Two musical reflections accompany this lesson—
each offering a different way of entering the same truth.
A grounded chant, steady and spacious,
like a quiet return within.
A devotional song,
carrying the feeling of being held in what has never changed.
You might listen to one… or both…
not to understand,
but to let the truth be felt.
There is nothing to achieve here.
Only a willingness to rest…
and allow the remembrance to deepen.
