ACIM Lesson 183
I call upon God’s Name and on my own.
The world gives us countless names. Successful. Sick. Strong. Broken. Young. Old. Worthy. Unworthy. Every label asks us to build an identity around something temporary.
Lesson 183 gently calls us back to the only Name that has ever truly belonged to us.
When we call upon God, we are not reaching toward a distant Creator. We are remembering our shared Identity as God's beloved Son. In that remembrance, the little gods we have worshiped—fear, achievement, approval, possessions, even our worries—begin to lose their power.
This is not an escape from the world. It is seeing the world from the perspective of what is eternal.
Today invites us into a simple practice. Sit quietly. Repeat God's Name with sincerity. Let every other thought grow still. Beneath all the names the world has given you is the one Identity that has never changed.
In remembering God, you remember yourself.
A Listening Practice
If it feels natural, you might let this idea continue beyond the words by listening to the chant song before sitting with God.
There is nothing to achieve here.
Only a willingness to rest…
and allow the remembrance to deepen.
