ACIM Lesson 200
There is no peace except the peace of God.
The search finally ends here.
For so much of my life I believed peace was waiting just beyond the next accomplishment, the next relationship, the next answer, or the next possession. Every promise whispered, "Just a little farther."
But peace kept slipping away.
The Course gently exposes why: I was asking the world to give me what only God could give.
This lesson is not asking me to reject the beauty of life. It is asking me to stop making idols of it. Houses, careers, health, success, recognition—even spiritual experiences—cannot carry the weight of becoming my peace. When I expect them to, anxiety quietly follows close behind, because anything the world gives can also seem to be taken away.
The peace of God is different.
It isn't dependent on circumstances. It doesn't need protecting. It doesn't rise and fall with my moods or my fortunes. It has been quietly waiting beneath every frantic search I've ever made.
Perhaps the most comforting words in today's lesson are simply, "Come home."
Not someday.
Not after I improve myself.
Not after I solve every problem.
Now.
Today I can stop wandering. I can bless this world instead of asking it to save me. I can meet every person with the silent prayer, "Peace be unto you," and discover that what I give is already mine.
The road home has never been hidden.
It has simply been waiting for me to stop looking everywhere else.
A Listening Practice
If it feels natural, you might let this idea continue beyond the words.
Two musical reflections accompany this lesson—
each offering a different way of entering the same truth.
A grounded chant, steady and spacious,
like a quiet return within.
A devotional song,
carrying the feeling of being held in what has never changed.
You might listen to one… or both…
not to understand,
but to let the truth be felt.
There is nothing to achieve here.
Only a willingness to rest…
and allow the remembrance to deepen.
