ACIM Lesson 236
I rule my mind, which I alone must rule.
The mind is always serving a purpose. When left unexamined, it may wander into judgment, fear, blame, or imagined futures and then tell us that what it has made is reality. Lesson 236 reminds us that we are not helpless before these thoughts. We may not control which thought first appears, but we can decide whether it will become our guide. We can pause, withdraw our allegiance from fear, and become willing to see differently.
Ruling the mind does not mean suppressing thoughts or condemning ourselves whenever we wander. It means accepting responsibility for the purpose we give them. Each moment offers another choice: Will this thought serve fear, or will I place it in the hands of the Holy Spirit to be used for love? This is a gentle discipline practiced one thought at a time.
Today we offer God the kingdom of the mind. In doing so, we do not surrender our authority; we exercise it. We choose the Voice our mind will serve, and in that choice, the mind is finally set free.
A Listening Practice
Before entering the silence, you may wish to listen to today’s Prayer Song.
Let the words and music be with you for a while. There is nothing to understand and nothing you need to accomplish.
When the music ends, allow the quiet to remain.
Rest with the lesson.
Listen.
