ACIM Lesson 242
This day is God’s. It is my gift to Him.
This lesson offers a different way to begin the day. Before I decide what must happen, what I need, or how everything should unfold, I can place the day in God’s hands. I do not have to understand the world in order to move through it. I do not have to see the whole way. I need only become willing to be led.
Giving the day to God does not mean withdrawing from my life or waiting passively for instructions. It means releasing the private agenda I so often carry into the day—the plans, expectations, and judgments through which I try to secure the outcome I think I need. With an open mind, I can meet what comes without deciding beforehand what it must mean.
“This day is God’s” becomes a gentle orientation rather than a grand declaration. I give Him my willingness, my attention, and each next step. The way may be very different from the one I would have chosen alone, but it is not difficult. I am being led home by One who knows the way.
A Listening Practice
Before entering the silence, you may wish to listen to today’s Prayer Song.
Let the words and music be with you for a while. There is nothing to understand and nothing you need to accomplish.
When the music ends, allow the quiet to remain.
Rest with the lesson.
Listen.
