ACIM Lesson 250
Let me not see myself as limited.
This lesson does not ask me to pretend that the body never tires, that circumstances place no restrictions on me, or that human vulnerability is unreal to my present experience. It asks me not to confuse any of these things with the truth of what I am. Something may limit what I can do today without limiting the holy life within me.
The lesson gives me a way to remember this truth: I can practice seeing it in another. When I refuse to reduce someone to their fear, their mistakes, their illness, or the story I have made about them, I begin to loosen the same judgment against myself. As I see him, so I see myself.
The glory I am asked to behold is not greatness in the worldly sense. It is gentleness—the quiet, undiminished light that remains beneath every appearance of frailty. Today I ask to see beyond the limits I have placed upon myself and others. Today I would see truly.
A Listening Practice
Before entering the silence, you may wish to listen to today’s Prayer Song.
Let the words and music be with you for a while. There is nothing to understand and nothing you need to accomplish.
When the music ends, allow the quiet to remain.
Rest with the lesson.
Listen.
