Today’s lesson asks us to see beyond what appears to separate us:

My holy Self abides in you, God’s Son.

It is easy to recognize light in someone we love. It is harder when we look upon a stranger, someone who irritates us, or someone whose choices we oppose. Yet the lesson asks us to look beneath personality, behavior, history, and difference to the life in each of us that came from God.

This does not mean approving of harmful behavior or abandoning discernment and healthy boundaries. It means remembering that no appearance can erase the holiness God created.

The Course calls others our saviors because each encounter offers an opportunity to remember. In them, Christ looks back upon us. The holiness we recognize in another awakens us to the holiness within ourselves.

Perhaps we cannot hold this vision. We do not need to force it. We can begin with one person and one holy instant. We can look upon a face in a restaurant, a store, or on a screen and quietly say:

My holy Self abides in you.

God has filled the world with those who can lead us Home. Today, may I recognize even one—and remember myself.
