ACIM Lesson 265
Creation’s gentleness is all I see.
“Creation’s gentleness is all I see” does not ask us to deny the harshness or pain we sometimes encounter. It asks us to notice how fear, guilt, and self-condemnation can become the lens through which we look.
When I believe I have failed, I begin to see a world that judges failure. When I am afraid, danger seems to wait everywhere. What I have placed upon the world appears to return as proof that my fear was justified.
Today’s lesson offers another way of seeing.
Beneath all fearful appearances, creation has not become fearful. The light of God remains. I am not being asked to manufacture gentleness or become spiritually perfect before I can perceive it. I am invited to become quiet enough to recognize that gentleness was here before my fear—and remains after it.
This gentleness is not weakness. It is the quiet strength found in a hand reaching for mine, the softness of morning light, the openness of a flower, or the moment my own voice becomes kinder.
Perhaps the world will begin to soften as I stop looking through the eyes of self-accusation. Perhaps I become gentler not by trying harder, but by receiving the gentleness already given to me.
Today, when the world appears harsh—or when I become harsh with myself—I can pause and pray:
Let me look again.
Let me look quietly.
Creation’s gentleness is all I see.
A Listening Practice
Before entering the silence, you may wish to listen to today’s Prayer Song.
Let the words and music be with you for a while. There is nothing to understand and nothing you need to accomplish.
When the music ends, allow the quiet to remain.
Rest with the lesson.
Listen.
