There are days when the world does not feel loving. Fear travels quickly, kindness can seem scarce, and the strain people carry spills into their words and actions. We may find ourselves scanning the world for evidence that we are alone, unprotected, or surrounded by everything but love.

Today’s lesson asks us to look again.

God stands before us and behind us, beside us and within the very place where we believe ourselves to be. Love is present in all that we see and hear, and in every hand that reaches toward our own. We do not have to create this Love or earn its protection. We are already held within it.

But the lesson does not end with a private reassurance. It turns toward the whole human family: “My brothers, join with me in this today. This is salvation’s prayer.”

Perhaps we are not meant to remember alone. There will be moments when I cannot feel the Love of God surrounding me, but you can remember for me. At another time, your fear may be loud, and my remembrance can help carry you. One voice begins the prayer, another answers, and soon “I am surrounded” becomes “we are surrounded.”

This is how love enters a frightened world—not as a wall that separates us from those who are afraid, but as a presence that joins us beneath the fear. When we remember what surrounds us, we become more able to extend it through our patience, our attention, our courage, and every hand we offer to another.

Today, wherever we go, we can carry this prayer together:

Love is before us.
Love is behind us.
Love is beside us.
Love is within us.

We are surrounded by the Love of God, and no one walks alone today.
