ACIM Lesson 288
Let me forget by brother’s past today.
Today's lesson offers a beautiful and challenging reminder: I cannot return to God alone.
How often have I imagined the spiritual journey as something I undertake by myself? Through prayer, meditation, and quiet contemplation, I seek to remember who I am. Yet A Course in Miracles reminds me that the way home is inseparable from how I see my brother.
When I hold another person to their past, I keep alive a story of separation. I see what they have done rather than who they are in truth. And in doing so, I forget the innocence we share.
Forgiveness does not require me to deny what happened or abandon healthy boundaries. It invites me to release the belief that the past defines either of us.
What if I could meet my brother today without asking yesterday to speak for him? What if I could recognize that the love I seek in God is the same love waiting to be recognized in another?
Perhaps the journey home has never been a solitary one.
Today, I ask for the willingness to see anew, to loosen my grip on old stories, and to remember that we belong to God together.
We go home together. We do not walk alone.
A Listening Practice
Before entering the silence, you may wish to listen to today’s Prayer Song.
Let the words and music be with you for a while. There is nothing to understand and nothing you need to accomplish.
When the music ends, allow the quiet to remain.
Rest with the lesson.
Listen.
