ACIM Lesson 293

All fear is past and only love is here.

How much of what we see today is colored by what happened yesterday? We carry old regrets, disappointments, judgments, and fears into the present, often without realizing that we are looking through the lens of the past.

Today's lesson offers us another way to see.

“All fear is past, and only love is here” is not a demand that we deny our feelings or pretend the world is without difficulty. It is an invitation to remember that beneath our fearful interpretations, love remains unchanged.

We do not have to wait for circumstances to improve before choosing again. In any moment, we can loosen our hold on an old story and become willing to see through the eyes of forgiveness.

The Course reminds us that beneath the sounds of fear, the world is singing hymns of gratitude. What a beautiful thought. Even when we cannot hear them, those songs are still there.

Perhaps our practice today is simply to listen more deeply, to look more gently, and to notice the love that has never left us.

With each step, we can remember:

All fear is past, and only love is here.

A Listening Practice

Before entering the silence, you may wish to listen to today’s Prayer Song.

Let the words and music be with you for a while. There is nothing to understand and nothing you need to accomplish.

When the music ends, allow the quiet to remain.

Rest with the lesson.

Listen.
