ACIM Lesson 307
Conflicting wishes cannot be my will.
Some mornings, peace feels farther away than others.
Today I notice the weariness of a mind pulled in different directions. There are things happening in the world that trouble me, outcomes I hope for, and circumstances I wish I could change. Even as I turn toward stillness, those thoughts follow me.
Lesson 307 invites me to look beneath them.
How often have I mistaken what I want to happen for what will bring me peace? How often have I believed that if the world would only arrange itself differently, I could finally rest?
Yet the Course reminds me that God's will and mine are not in opposition. Beneath my judgments, fears, and competing desires, there is only one will—the will to love and be at peace.
I don't have to deny what I'm feeling or pretend that the world doesn't concern me. I can bring all of it into the quiet and allow another way of seeing to emerge.
Perhaps peace begins not when the conflict around me disappears, but when I remember that conflict does not belong to my deepest Self.
Conflicting wishes cannot be my will.
A Listening Practice
Before entering the silence, you may wish to listen to today’s Prayer Song.
Let the words and music be with you for a while. There is nothing to understand and nothing you need to accomplish.
When the music ends, allow the quiet to remain.
Rest with the lesson.
Listen.
