ACIM Lesson 118
Review of Lessons 105 and 106
Lesson 118 brings me into a deeper honesty about my inner life.
God’s peace and joy are mine.
It sounds simple, but I begin to see how often I choose something else.
Not always because something real has happened—
but because a familiar emotional pattern rises, and I follow it.
A habit of reaction. A habit of disturbance.
And today, I’m reminded: I don’t have to go there.
There is a place in me that can pause.
A place that can choose again.
Let me be still and listen to the truth.
This feels like the turning point.
Not managing the world. Not fixing the moment.
But quieting the inner noise long enough to hear something deeper.
Because both voices use my voice.
The one that defends, explains, insists…
and the one that softens, forgives, and sees innocence.
The practice is learning to recognize the difference.
Today, I let the louder voice rest.
Even briefly.
And in that stillness, something true returns—
a quiet knowing that peace was never absent…
only overlooked.
A Listening Practice
You might return to the songs that accompany these lessons—
not to understand them,
but to remember…
to let the truth be felt again.
