ACIM Lesson 232

Be in my mind, my Father, through the day.

This prayer is not only for the quiet of morning or the stillness before sleep. It is a prayer for the middle of life—for the conversation, the decision, the irritation, the moment when fear would speak before love has had a chance.

To ask, “Be in my mind, my Father, through the day,” is to remember that I do not have to meet any moment alone. I can pause. I can listen. I can allow another way of seeing to arise before I respond.

Perhaps this is how the end of fear is practiced: not all at once, but one ordinary moment at a time.

A Listening Practice

Before entering the silence, you may wish to listen to today’s Prayer Song.

Let the words and music be with you for a while. There is nothing to understand and nothing you need to accomplish.

When the music ends, allow the quiet to remain.

Rest with the lesson.

Listen.
