ACIM Lesson 233
I give my life to God to guide today.
There is so much effort in believing I must know what comes next.
Today I am asked to give that effort away.
I give God my thoughts before they become plans, my plans before they become actions, and my actions before I decide what they must accomplish. I step back—not because I am powerless, but because I no longer want fear to be my guide.
Perhaps guidance will come quietly: a softer response, a willingness to wait, a sudden knowing to speak, or the grace to leave something alone.
I do not have to direct this day.
I can receive it.
And when I stop insisting that I know where it should lead, I may begin to notice the countless gifts and mercies that were waiting for me all along.
A Listening Practice
Before entering the silence, you may wish to listen to today’s Prayer Song.
Let the words and music be with you for a while. There is nothing to understand and nothing you need to accomplish.
When the music ends, allow the quiet to remain.
Rest with the lesson.
Listen.
