ACIM Lesson 240
Fear is not justified in any form.
Fear can feel convincing because it always arrives attached to a form: a diagnosis, a decision, a relationship, an uncertain future. The form seems to prove that fear is reasonable. Yet today’s lesson asks me to question not the feeling itself, but the interpretation I have placed upon what I see. I do not need to deny my fear or judge myself for feeling it. I can simply acknowledge that I may not be seeing the whole truth.
Fear shows me a self who is separate, vulnerable, and alone. But this is the self I could never truly be. Beyond the veil of my perception, Love remains unchanged, and I remain a part of Love Itself. The miracle begins when I become willing to look again.
Today, when fear appears, I can pause before making it my guide. I can say, “This is what I think is happening, but I may be mistaken.” In that small opening, another world becomes visible—the world in which holiness has not been lost, Love has not withdrawn, and no one has been separated from God.
A Listening Practice
Before entering the silence, you may wish to listen to today’s Prayer Song.
Let the words and music be with you for a while. There is nothing to understand and nothing you need to accomplish.
When the music ends, allow the quiet to remain.
Rest with the lesson.
Listen.
