ACIM Lesson 254

Let every voice but God’s be still in me.

The mind contains many voices—fear, worry, judgment, old memories, and imagined futures. They can begin speaking before we have even risen from bed. Yet today’s lesson does not ask us to fight those voices or condemn ourselves for hearing them. It asks us to notice them, quietly step back, and let them go.

God’s Voice is not another voice competing for our attention. It is the quiet truth beneath the noise—the remembrance of our innocence, our shared holiness, and our purpose to love. We recognize it not through greater effort, but through willingness to become still.

Each anxious thought offers us a choice. We can allow it to direct the day, or we can release the authority we have given it. In the space that remains, peace becomes possible.

Today we come without another prayer to make or answer to demand. We simply listen:

Let every voice but God’s be still in me.

A Listening Practice

Before entering the silence, you may wish to listen to today’s Prayer Song.

Let the words and music be with you for a while. There is nothing to understand and nothing you need to accomplish.

When the music ends, allow the quiet to remain.

Rest with the lesson.

Listen.
