ACIM Lesson 256
God is the only goal I have today.
To say that God is the only goal I have today does not mean withdrawing from ordinary life. It means entering every conversation, decision, and task with one deeper purpose: to see what is real.
Forgiveness is the way back to that seeing. It does not ask me to deny what has happened or pretend that appearances have no effects. It asks me not to make those appearances the final truth about anyone. Beneath the confusion, conflict, and changing circumstances, there is still the holiness God created.
Today, every encounter can become a holy encounter. Instead of asking only how I can produce the outcome I want, I can pause and ask: Can I recognize the love here? Can the love in me greet the love in you?
Each time I choose to see beyond the surface, my mind becomes a little quieter and more stable. Through forgiveness, I remember what is true—and return to God, the only goal I have today.
A Listening Practice
Before entering the silence, you may wish to listen to today’s Prayer Song.
Let the words and music be with you for a while. There is nothing to understand and nothing you need to accomplish.
When the music ends, allow the quiet to remain.
Rest with the lesson.
Listen.
