ACIM Lesson 258
Let me remember that my goal is God.
Today’s lesson gathers the scattered mind and gives it one clear direction: God.
Our days are filled with small aims—things to accomplish, problems to solve, desires to satisfy, and old conversations to reconsider. None of these is necessarily wrong. The confusion begins when we ask them to give us what only God can give: peace, identity, safety, and wholeness.
The lesson is not asking us to abandon the details of our lives. It is asking us to place them beneath a greater purpose. Every task, relationship, decision, and difficulty can become part of the way home when our underlying goal is love.
“Let me remember that my goal is God” is therefore not a demand that we force the mind into obedience. It is a gentle return. When the mind wanders into guilt, judgment, fear, or striving, we can notice where it has gone and bring it back. We return from the many little goals to the one goal that gives meaning to everything else.
God’s memory has not disappeared. It remains within us, waiting beneath the noise of our vain imaginings. Today, we align the mind and heart with what has always been true:
God is our goal.
Love is our direction.
Remembering is our way.
A Listening Practice
Today’s lesson is offered in two musical forms.
The contemplative Prayer Song invites you to sit with the lesson before entering the silence. When the music ends, allow the quiet to remain.
The Folk Prayer Song carries the lesson into movement—on a walk, in the car, or as you move through your day.
Choose the one that meets you where you are, or spend time with both. There is nothing to understand and nothing you need to accomplish.
Let the words and music help you remember.
Listen. Walk. Rest with the lesson.
