ACIM Lesson 278
If I am bound, my Father is not free.
How often do I accept a smaller version of myself than the one God created?
I can look at the body, at circumstances, at the limits I seem to encounter, and quietly decide: This is what I am. This is what is possible for me. Yet today’s lesson asks me to question those conclusions.
“Father, I ask for nothing but the truth.”
There is such tenderness in that prayer. I do not have to fight my limitations or prove that I am powerful. I am simply asked to loosen my hold on the thoughts that tell me I am separate, small, afraid, or bound.
The truth of me was established by God. It cannot be diminished by what happens to the body, by the stories I have carried, or by what the world says is possible.
Perhaps freedom begins here—not by escaping my human experience, but by remembering that my human experience does not contain the whole of who I am.
Today I can notice the places where I have made myself small and gently offer them to God.
I ask for nothing but the truth.
For truth is free.
And only Love is sure.
A Listening Practice
Before entering the silence, you may wish to listen to today’s Prayer Song.
Let the words and music be with you for a while. There is nothing to understand and nothing you need to accomplish.
When the music ends, allow the quiet to remain.
Rest with the lesson.
Listen.
