ACIM Lesson 279

Creation’s freedom promises my own.

How often do I wait for a freedom that has already been given?

I can build walls from old stories, past mistakes, other people’s opinions, even my own ideas about what is possible for me. After living within those boundaries long enough, they can begin to feel real. I may not even notice that the door has opened.

Today’s lesson offers a startling possibility: the chains are already gone.

God is not promising freedom someday, after I have healed enough, learned enough, changed enough, or finally gotten everything right. His freedom belongs to me now because I belong to Him. Nothing I have believed about myself can alter what He created.

Perhaps my part today is not to struggle against the walls or figure out how to escape them. Perhaps it is simply to notice that they cannot hold me.

I can take one step.

And then another.

Not toward freedom, but in freedom.

“Creation’s freedom promises my own” becomes more than a beautiful idea. It becomes an invitation to live this day a little less confined by yesterday, trusting that what God created free has never truly been bound.

A Listening Practice

Before entering the silence, you may wish to listen to today’s Prayer Song.

Let the words and music be with you for a while. There is nothing to understand and nothing you need to accomplish.

When the music ends, allow the quiet to remain.

Rest with the lesson.

Listen.
