ACIM Lesson 280

What limits can I lay upon God’s Son?

How many limits have I accepted simply because I have thought them often enough?

I can make a prison out of my own conclusions: I am too old. I am too tired. I cannot do this. This is simply who I am. And I can place those same boundaries around another person, deciding who they are and what is possible for them.

Today’s lesson gently asks me to question all of it.

What God created cannot be changed by the limits I imagine. Beneath every judgment, every fear, every story of inadequacy or impossibility, God’s Son remains as He was created—whole, holy, loved and free.

Perhaps my work today is not to convince myself that I can accomplish anything I desire. It is something quieter. I can loosen my certainty about what is impossible.

And I can offer that same freedom to my brother.

“I lay no limits on the Son You love.”

There is such tenderness in those words. I do not have to define another. I do not have to define myself.

I can simply make room for what God created to reveal itself.

You created him free.

And in remembering his freedom, perhaps I remember my own.

A Listening Practice

Before entering the silence, you may wish to listen to today’s Prayer Song.

Let the words and music be with you for a while. There is nothing to understand and nothing you need to accomplish.

When the music ends, allow the quiet to remain.

Rest with the lesson.

Listen.
