ACIM Lesson 281

I can be hurt by nothing but my thoughts.

There are times when I forget who I am. I become caught in the stories I tell myself—about what has happened, what might happen, or what something means about me. And before I realize it, I have mistaken those thoughts for truth.

Today's lesson invites me to recognize how much of my suffering comes from the meaning I give my experiences. It does not ask me to deny what I feel, but to become willing to see differently.

This is where the Holy Spirit meets me. Not with judgment or correction that shames, but with a gentle invitation to remember what God knows about me.

I am still as God created me.

The thoughts I think with God can only bless. When I release the fearful interpretations I have been holding, I make room for another way of seeing—one grounded in love rather than fear.

And what is true for me must also be true for everyone I encounter.

Perhaps this is why today's prayer begins with I and ends with we. The innocence I am learning to remember is not mine alone. It is ours to recognize, together.

A Listening Practice

Before entering the silence, you may wish to listen to today’s Prayer Song.

Let the words and music be with you for a while. There is nothing to understand and nothing you need to accomplish.

When the music ends, allow the quiet to remain.

Rest with the lesson.

Listen.
