ACIM Lesson 302

Where darkness was I look upon the light.

There are times when I look at the world through the shadows of my own thoughts. Old hurts, judgments, and fears can seem so convincing that I forget I am seeing through a story I have made.

Today's lesson reminds me that the light has not gone anywhere. It has not been diminished by my fears or changed by my judgments. What God created remains as He created it.

I find comfort in knowing that I do not have to fix everything before I can see differently. I do not have to wait for circumstances to change, for another person to behave differently, or for some future moment of awakening.

I can choose again, right here.

When I look upon my brother, I can ask to see beyond the story I have placed upon him. His innocence remains, just as mine does. What I recognize in him, I begin to recognize in myself.

Perhaps this is the gentle miracle of today's lesson. The light does not need to overcome the darkness. It simply waits to be recognized.

Where darkness was, I look upon the light.

A Listening Practice

Before entering the silence, you may wish to listen to today’s Prayer Song.

Let the words and music be with you for a while. There is nothing to understand and nothing you need to accomplish.

When the music ends, allow the quiet to remain.

Rest with the lesson.

Listen.
