ACIM Lesson 304

Let not my world obscure the sight of Christ.

Today’s lesson invites me to consider something that stopped me in my tracks:

“And what I look upon is my state of mind reflected outward.”

How often have I looked upon the world and believed that what I was seeing was simply the truth? Someone’s behavior, a difficult circumstance, an apparent injustice—and immediately my mind begins telling a story.

Yet A Course in Miracles reminds me that perception is not the same as truth. What I see is influenced by the judgments, fears, and beliefs I bring to it.

This does not mean overlooking harmful behavior or pretending that mistakes have no consequences. It means remembering that no mistake can change the truth of who someone is.

And that includes me.

When I hold another person within the boundaries of my judgment, I also confine myself to a world shaped by that judgment.

Forgiveness offers another way of seeing. I need not change what happened or convince myself that everything is acceptable. I can simply become willing to look again.

Perhaps that is where Christ’s vision begins—not in seeing a different world, but in allowing Love to show me what my judgments have obscured.

A Listening Practice

Before entering the silence, you may wish to listen to today’s Prayer Song.

Let the words and music be with you for a while. There is nothing to understand and nothing you need to accomplish.

When the music ends, allow the quiet to remain.

Rest with the lesson.

Listen.
